Smith Show Stock was founded in
1992 when we bought a group of 30 ewes from Frosty McMahan and Eldon
Horny. This select group of ewe lambs went back to Hill County and
Dynamite breeding. In 1994 we bought another group of 20 ewes from Ron
Pruitt. These 50 ewes have given us a powerful ewe base with exceptional
bone and structural correctness.
Our first 3 years in business we used bucks from High Hill Farms,
including Tator Tot & Sparkplug. In 1996 we bought our first lead buck
from Jason Stillwell. This was a Miller buck that had produced multiple
champions for Jason, including a Res. Grand Market Lamb at NAILE. This ram
supplied us with many functional ewes that are still part of our flock.
In 2000, we purchased “Chrome” from Vince McGolden. This ram has moved our
flock into today’s show lamb industry. “Chrome” has produced numerous
winners throughout the Midwest. He has also sired many keeper ewes that
have stepped in and continued to raise champions. Many other flocks in the
Midwest are now using rams sired by “Chrome.”
In 2004 we purchased a new buck lamb we call “Cutting Edge”. With the
purchase of our new Johnson Buck we hope to continue to raise massive,
correct and competitive show lambs. “Cutting Edge” was our pick out of
Johnson’s 2004 lamb crop. We continue to strive to improve our flock and
we think this new buck is just what we need to produce a winner for you
The most recent move we have made in improving our flock was the
purchase of a great proven ram 4010, from Tolle & Simpson Livestock.
This ram is the complete package and we are confident that he is going
to match up exceptionally with our Johnson, Miller, and McGolden
genetics. |
